For those not wanting to or unable to give a whole weekend we are offering one day retreats. These will be held on Saturdays. These days of reflection will give you a chance to deepen your own journey of faith, and to strengthen the bonds of community.
This group of EIU students is dedicated to spreading the Gospel via performance. Best known for their Mimed version of the Stations of the Cross, they also have performed original pieces for retreats, and diocesan youth days. To get involved please contact the office at (217) 348-0188.
WHO is the RCIA for? The process is for anyone wanting to learn more about the Catholic faith and way of life; i.e., those who are unbaptized, those who are baptized in another faith tradition, those who are baptized Catholics who would like a deepening faith experience. How does one find out more? Contact Bob Meyer (217 348-0188 or email address: cxrlm@eiu.edu).
Classes will begin in September. The group will meet once a week for one hour and half. Sacramental Preparation: The greatest gift the Catholic Church has to give to the world is our Sacramental System. This is the visible reality of the invisible God in our midst. Newman offers a number of opportunities to complete or learn more about the sacraments.

RCIA:
What is The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults? It is an initiation into a WAY OF LIFE! The process is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. It is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful.
Sacramental Preparation:
The greatest gift the Catholic Church has to give to the world is our Sacramental System. This is the visible reality of the invisible God in our midst. Newman offers a number of opportunities to complete or learn more about the sacraments.
It is important that young adults and others complete the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. If you have not received Confirmation, or First Eucharist please contact Bob Meyer, Chaplain (348-0188 or email address: cxrlm@eiu.edu)
Commonly known as "Confession" this sacrament is one of the most healing experiences of God in our lives. Unfortunately, "Confession" is what most people think when they think of this sacrament. The Newman staff invites all Catholics to come and experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a beautiful rite in which one fully feels the healing touch of God in their lives.

For those who are in love and are planning on getting married within the next year, make plans to attend the Newman Center's Pre-Cana Conference. Held twice a year in the Spring Semester, this gathering is ideal for couples in East Central Illinois and at EIU, and besides that it is one of the requirements for getting married in the Catholic Church. The weekend of April 25-26, 1997 will be the last one held this semester.
