Small Communities of Faith

Small Communities of Faith:

Small Communities of Faith (SCF) Are gatherings of students, faculty and staff that focus upon prayer and the sharing of Sacred Scripture; whose goal is to bring about justice in ourselves, in the world of the Newman Community, the campus, the city of Charleston and the State of Illinois, the Church, the United States, and all Nations. In other words, to become "of the Kingdom".

SCF are the backbone of the Newman Community: The members will be expected to give at least three hours a week, Fall and Spring Sessions, in order to make vibrant such things as: Mass and other worship times, The Haiti Connection, The Student Volunteer Center, Habitat for Humanity, Knights of Columbus, RCIA, Retreats, Sacramental Preparation, and Educational Opportunities.

One member of each SCF will be on the Governing Board of the Newman Center. This board will meet monthly during the school year. SCF will meet weekly: 12 meetings each Academic Semester -- Fall & Spring. If you are interested in joining a SCF or want more information please contact Bob Meyer, Chaplain at (217) 345-1677 or email him at cxrlm@eiu.edu.
