We are thrilled that you are considering the Department of Music at Eastern Illinois University as a place to continue your musical, academic, and personal growth! Two steps are necessary to be accepted as a Music Major or Minor at Eastern: application for admission to the University and successfully passing a performance audition.

All entering freshmen and transfer students planning to major or minor in music are required to perform and pass an audition prior to registering for music classes. To arrange an audition for admission to the Music Department and scholarship consideration, please click the Audition & Scholarship Application link to the right. In addition to the audition, prospective composition students should provide scores and/or tapes of original compositions prior to registration. All students who wish to transfer credit in music theory, aural training, music history, applied studies, and piano are required to take placement examinations in these subjects.
