Adam Walker Stich

University Mixed Chorus - Music Theatre and Opera Ensemble - ConductingStich

A dedicated teacher and performer, prior coming to EIU, Adam spent 5 years in the public school system of South Carolina teaching music and theatre. He was a soloist with the professional choral ensemble Cola Voce in Columbia, South Carolina, and sang with the Bach Festival Chorus in Winter Park, Florida. He has studied voice with Edmund LeRoy, Sandra Walker and Richard Owens, and he has studied conducting with Larry Wyatt, John Sinclair, and Carol Krueger.

In addition to his musical abilities, he is also an accomplished actor/director, having performed in over 40 productions including The Baker in Into the Woods and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. He has directing credits that include light opera, musicals and straight plays. In the spring he will be directing Side by Side by Sondheim a joint production of the Music and Theatre Departments.

He currently conducts the University Mixed Chorus and directs the Music Theatre and Opera Ensemble. In addition to his ensembles he will be teaching Conducting and Introduction to the Theatre in the spring. He is a member of Theta Alpha Phi (national theatre honors organization), The American Choral Directors Association, and National Music Educators Association. He is married to Ashley Stich and they have 2 dogs: George the Bulldog and Katherine the Great Dane.
