The Department of Music is proud to announce the 7th Annual EIU High School
Honor Band Festival to be held Saturday, December 8, 2007 on the EIU campus!
All high school students are invited to spend a day rehearsing and
performing with Dr. Milton Allen (Director of Bands), Dr. Jeffrey Steiner
(Director of Athletic Bands) and our special guest, renowned composer and
conductor David Holsinger. Mr. Holsinger is the inaugual conductor of the
Lee Wind Ensemble at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee in addition to
being one of the most celebrated band composers of his generation. Students
will have the option of performing in the Honors Concert Band or auditioning
for a postion in the Honors Wind Symphony. Other activities are planned for
students and their directors, including a new music reading session
sponsored by Shattinger Music.
In 1999, award winning composer and conductor David R. Holsinger joined the faculty of Lee University, Cleveland, Tennessee. He is the inaugural conductor of the Lee Wind Ensemble and teaches composition, orchestration, and conducting.
