Dr. Jeffrey Steiner serves the Eastern Illinois University Department of Music as Director of Athletic Bands, conductor of the Concert Band, and instructor of music education classes.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Steiner served on the faculties of Adams State College (Alamosa, CO), Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, KY), Alderson-Broaddus College (Philippi, WV), and Indiana State University (Terre Haute, IN).
He received both Bachelors and Masters degrees at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Colorado at Boulder under the advisement of Distinguished Professor Allan McMurray. He has also studied conducting with Dr. Jack Stamp, and has clinic experience with renowned wind conductors H. Robert Reynolds, Craig Kirchhoff, Thomas Lee, Mallory Thompson, Richard Floyd, and Larry Rachleff.
Dr. Steiner has presented research at the College Band Director's National Association and is in demand as a guest conductor and clinician. He holds memberships in CBDNA, MENC, alumni membership in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and an honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi.
