Bart Rettberg was named the EIU Preparatory Music Program
Director in August of 2006 after teaching in the program since 2002. He
has had the pleasure of teaching piano to a variety of students, ranging
in age from eight to 48-years-old.
In 2004 Bart completed double music degrees from Eastern Illinois University
in piano performance and theory/composition. His past EIU instructors
have included W. David Hobbs and George Sanders on piano and Peter Hesterman,
Tucker Robison, and Aaron Hunt in theory/composition.
Bart was a two-time participant at the EIU Honors Recital, including
the Charleston premiere of Leonard Bernsteins Touches
in 2003. He was also a former member of the EIU Panther Marching Band,
Wind Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, and an officer in Kappa Kappa Psi.
He continues to be in high demand as an accompanist, having performed
with a variety of soloists, chamber groups, and musical productions, both
on and off-campus. An active proponent of contemporary music, Bart emphasized
the study of mid-to-late twentieth-century repertoire during his past
studies.
Originally from Divernon, Illinois, Bart has been a full-time member
of the EIU Athletic Department since 1995. In 2005 he was promoted to
Assistant Sports Information Director where his duties include desktop
publishing and design work, as well as title of athletic department webmaster
of EIUpanthers.com internet site since its inception.
