Katherine Carothers McBain is currently completing a DMA degree in Horn Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music. She previously earned a Master of Music degree from Eastman and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Houston. An active performer and recitalist, McBain has vast professional experience performing in various orchestras, wind ensembles, and opera orchestras throughout Texas, Ohio, Michigan and Upstate New York. Most recently she has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Rochester Chamber Orchestra, and as Horn soloist with the Concentus Women’s Chorus and Eastman Opera Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she has recently performed on the Faculty Spotlight Series at Hochstein School of Music, with the Nazareth College Faculty Brass Quintet, and as a member of the trumpet and horn concert duo, HeldenDuo. Previous to her teaching appointment at Eastern Illinois University, McBain taught at the University of Rochester and Nazareth College.
