Jonathon Kirk is a composer, performer, and improviser active in many areas of contemporary music, new media, and the electronic arts. His works have been performed throughout the United States, in Europe, Canada, and Asia by a diverse group of international musicians, most recently including members of Champ D’action and the Harvard University Collegium Musicum. For the year 2000 through 2001 he received a grant from the Belgian government to be in residence at the Logos Foundation for Experimental Music in Ghent where he worked with Godfried-Willem Raes. His works for new media have been shown at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, CYNETart_07 in Dresden, the Boston Cyberarts Festival, Structural Elements in Chicago, and his music has recently been presented at numerous festivals including the L.A. Short Film Festival, Spark Festival, Princeton’s Listening in the Sound Kitchen, New Music Marathon, CCARMA at Stanford, International Computer Music Conference (2004/2006), and the festivities of the Cultural Capital of Europe in Brugge, Belgium. He has studied at the Eastman School of Music, Brown University, Augustana College, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Northwestern University.
