Luminita Florea received her Bachelor's
degree in Musicology from the "George Dima" Academy of Music
in Cluj-Napoca, Romania (1978), and her Ph.D. in Musicology from Indiana
University School of Music at Bloomington (1996). She was selected as
a participant in the National Endowment for Humanities Summer Institute
in Latin Archival Sources (1994) and the N. E. H. Summer Seminar in Renaissance
Music (1998). Dr. Florea is the recipient of a Summer Study Stipend from
the N. E. H. (1998) and of faculty research and travel grants from Eastern
Illinois University (1995, 1997-98). In 1992-93 she was an American Fellow
of the American Association of University Women. Dr. Florea has presented
papers for the International Musicological Society, the American Musicological
Society, the U. K. Royal Musical Association, the University of California
Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and the Regional Central
Renaissance Conference. Dr. Florea's publications include articles in
Proceedings of the 17th International Musicological Congress; Scriptorium:
International Review of Manuscript Studies; Philobiblon: The Journal of
the Central University Library of Cluj, Romania; Great Events /Great Lives
from History: The Renaissance; Great Events/Great Lives from History:
The Seventeenth Century; The Encyclopedia of the Romantic Era; The New
Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians; A Reader's Guide to Music; and
Tempo.
