Mark Rubel Mark Rubel has produced and engineered about a thousand records since 1980 at his Pogo Studio in Champaign IL, working with Alison Krauss, Hum, Adrian Belew, Luther Alison, Jay Bennett of Wilco, Toby Twining and many others, including work for RCA, Capitol, Warner, Jive/Zomba, etc. He belongs to ASCAP, the Audio Engineering Society, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Music and Entertainment Industry Educator’s Association, and is vice president of the Engineering and Recording Society. He is a member of the Grammy® Producer's Committee and the NARAS Producer’s and Engineer’s Wing Committee. Mr. Rubel has taught audio and music business since 1985 to more than 2,000 students, many of whom are now professionals in their own right. His thrash-oldies band Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets has been rocking since 1980. Mark has been featured in various books and magazines, and contributes to Mix Magazine and Tape Op Magazine, including his interview with Les Paul. Mark is a consultant and audio expert witness, and participates in many conferences, workshops and panels, including SXSW, the Tape Op Conference, the International Conference of Music and Entertainment Industry Educators, and various NARAS events.
