Graduate Admissions

Thank you for your interest in graduate study at Eastern Illinois University.  To be eligible for degree candidacy, applicants must meet all of the requirements for admission to the Graduate School.  To be considered for admission, applicants should:

  1. submit a Graduate School application on-line at www.eiu.edu/~graduate.  The application fee is $30.
  2. send the Graduate School an official transcript, in a sealed envelope, from the institution that awarded your bachelor’s degree.
  3. mail or email a letter of application, a résumé, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Jonathon Kirk, Music Department Graduate Coordinator.
  4. singers and instrumentalists should complete an audition; conductors should submit a video recording of a recent performance or rehearsal and an audition; composers should submit scores and recordings of original compositions.
  5. complete a personal interview.
