Piano Camp

EIU 2005 Piano Camp Information

Piano Camp is open to middle and high school students.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in the following:

  • -    private lessons with university faculty
  • -    theory classes
  • -    sight-reading classes
  • -    Chamber music
  • -    many fun-filled evening activities throughout the week

The 2005 Eastern Piano Camp Faculty will include:




Dr. W. David Hobbs
Piano Camp Coordinator*

Dr. W. David Hobbs, Professor of Piano at Eastern Illinois University, received his Bachelors and Doctoral degrees from the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music and his Masters degree from Northwestern University. 

Dr. Hobbs is active in State and National Professional organizations, (ISMTA) where he serves as College Competition Chair for Illinois.  Students of Dr. Hobbs have won honors and concerto competitions at EIU and have been winners at the State ISMTA Competitions.




Dr. Susan Teicher
Piano Camp Coordinator

Dr. Susan Teicher, Assistant Professor of Piano at Eastern Illinois University, received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Juilliard School, and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Peabody.

In January 2003, Dr. Teicher presented a live radio broadcast on WILL FM at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, which was awarded The Communicator Awards’ top prize, The Crystal Award for Excellence.  Dr. Teicher is a member of MTNA.
