The Minority Internship Program is designed specifically
for full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Eastern Illinois University, Chicago
State, Governors State, Northeastern Illinois, and Western Illinois Universities.
The program is open to African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans
(or Pacific Islanders), Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. Selection
is competitive and applicants must follow and complete the application
process.
Students are required to be enrolled full-time at thr time of application and to be legally domiciled in the United States or its territories.
Undergraduates must be at least juniors with a minimum cumulative GPA
of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application. Graduate students
must have a GPA of 3.25 or better in their graduate course work. Candidates must also possess strong
writing and research skills. Students from all disciplines who are interested
in pursuing public service careers or policy-making positions are encouraged
to apply. It is also helpful for applicants to have completed appropriate
course work to provide some understanding of legislative, administrative,
and organizational theories and practice.

Interns will be appointed for one academic term. A monthly stipend of
$1,000.00 will be paid to each intern for the duration of the internship.
