Are you ready AGAIN! The 2012 Black Student Reunion committee has planned another unforgettable weekend at EIU on Friday, November 9th through Sunday, November 11th. In an effort to accommodate participating alumni and current Eastern students, the committee is developing a fun-filled weekend designed to provide alumni and current students with fuel that will aid in inspiring everyone.

This year we have two NEW highlights!

  • 100 Black Student on Thursday Evening – we will offer mentorship
  • Unity Gospel Choir Reunion

The 2012 Black Expo will be held in McAfee. It will be our hope to have not only vendors from the Decatur/Champaign/Chicago area but we would encourage our Alumni with businesses to be a part of this event. Guideline, cost and registration information about the Expo will be available on-line at www.eiu.edu/minoraff/.

The Black Student Reunion's purpose is to RAISE MONEY for scholarships to assist our current students. With your support, we look forward to an exciting and memorable weekend. The weekend is very important because these scholarships help our institution with recruitment and retention for students of color.

Scholarship Funds:

  • Johnetta Jones Scholarship - Awarded to a student accepted and enrolled full-time at Eastern Illinois University. The student must be enrolled in the Gateway Program and maintain a 2.5 GPA.

  • Nate Anderson – this fund assists with the retention of minority students. Returning students with a 2.5 GPA can apply for this scholarship.

  • Liz Halbert – this fund assists with the retention of minority students. Any returning minority student who is committed to public service and serves the EIU community.

Are you an Alumni member of the Unity Gospel Choir – Please send an email to Mona Davenport at mydavenport@eiu.edu if you would like to sing with the choir. The concert is Sunday, November 11th at 11:00am
