Math Energy is a
pre-service teacher organization which meets monthly to give our members the
opportunity to hear various professionals speak on math related topics. Math
Energy focuses on hands-on techniques to teach math. All grade levels and
abilities are explored at our meetings. In 1991 Math
Energy Club was established at Eastern Illinois University. In the Fall of
1992 Math Energy became an Affiliate Group of ICTM and received our Affiliate
Group charter from NCTM at the 1994 NCTM Meeting at Indianapolis.
In 1998 Math Energy produced a video about the club and
how other schools can start their own Math Energy Club. In 1999 the National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics distributed this video to all the Regional
Representatives of NCTM. The tape and accompanying materials are available
from NCTM. |
