1. Offer individualized, course-specific academic support to
any undergraduate or graduate student.
2. Provide group workshops on study habits and skills in a variety of venues.
3. Utilize study skills software, course related software, and technology
instruction in the LAC computer laboratory to enhance student learning.
4. Develop programs such as the Plus Program, the Supplemental Instruction Pilot
Program, and the StartSmart Program that develop student's skills and increase
retention.
5. Offer information and resource links through the Learning Assistance Center
and University Foundations websites, including maintaining the departmental
tutoring schedule and student support events calendars.
6. Foster collaboration with other student support services providers through
listservs, such as the Support and University Foundation listservs, and through
groups, such as the Student Support Services Group and the Academic Problem
Team.
7. Serve on university committees that promote student success and retention.
8. Engage in professional development activities.
9. Publish articles and present research on learning-related topics.
10. Provide resources to help community members better understand and prepare
for college.
