Geneological Research Materials

The Charleston Public Library devotes a room to its geneological collection which houses the Coles County Genealogical Society collection.

The resources within the geneological collection at the Charleston Public Library include:

Geneological Books and Materials
            City and County Directories, DAR books, Marriage and Death Records, and Family Histories
Microfilms on Coles County:
            Federal Census--1840-1910, Marriage Indexes, Birth and Marriage Records, and Land Records
Newspapers (misc. dates):
            Charleston Courier, Illinois Globe, Reporter, The Republican, and Charleston Weekly News
