Meet the Director
Jacqueline Joines serves the Lumpkin College
of Business and Applied Sciences as Director of Philanthropy. Mrs.
Joines grew up in Newman, Illinois, and
currently resides in Brocton, Illinois, a small town northeast of Charleston,
with her husband, Michael Joines. She is the stepmother to Mrs. Eric (Jackie) Teague and Matthew M.
Joines, and grandmother to Ava Marie and Abagail Laine Teague.
She received her bachelor's degree in Career &
Organizational Studies from Eastern Illinois University in 1988 and her master's degree in
Technology (Training & Development) in 1996, so she understands the true mission of the
Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences.
Jacqueline came to Eastern from Sarah Bush
Lincoln Health Center where she served as Manager of Volunteer Services
for five years. There she
coordinated the volunteer efforts, including fundraising, of approximately
300 volunteers and oversaw the operations of the hospital gift shop.
She also served as Health Center lobbyist.
Her previous position was as District Office Manager and Legislative
Aide to former State Representative Michael Weaver (Class of 1973,
MBA '74, MA '82) for nine years.
There, Jacqueline worked closely with the constituents of the district
acting as a liaison to government. Additional activities included
tracking legislation and serving as a community
liaison in the area of economic development and other issues. She also
served a major role in the campaign, coordinating volunteers, raising
funds, and assisting and directing public
relations events that led to victories of over 60% in four elections.
In 1997, Mrs. Joines was among 15 women selected statewide
to participate in the Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series Fellowship, a nine
month political/governmental educational program covering fundraising and public relations
among other topics. Jacqueline served two terms (6 years) on the Eastern Illinois University
Alumni Association Board of Directors and served as its president during the University's
Centennial in 1995. During her tenure as Alumni Association President, the Association was
awarded "Philanthropic Organization of the Year" by the EIU Foundation.
In 1998, she attended the College of William and Mary and graduated from the
National Planned Giving Institute. As
a result of her years of professional practice, performance, education,
service, and successful completion of the CFRE Professional Certification examination,
Mrs. Joines was
designated a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) in 2002 and recertified
in 2005. She served as the president for the Planned Giving Information
Consortium of East
Central Illinois in 2006-2007 and as the past president of the East Central Illinois
Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She sits on the Board
of Directors of the
Hospital and Medical Foundation of Paris and is a member of the Public
Relations Committee and Foundation Development Committee. She previously served as
the Family Readiness Coordinator for
her husband's Army Reserve Unit recently redeployed home from Iraq.
