The department of Journalism, a unit within the College of Arts and Humanities, offers a 120-hour Bachelor of Arts degree. To earn a B.A. with a major in journalism, students must successfully complete (1) 40 hours of general education, (2) 24 or 25 hours of required journalism coursework, (3) 15 hours of elective journalism coursework or 15 hours of coursework in a journalism concentration, (4) 18 hours of liberal arts classes and (5) 12 hours of upper-division coursework in a discipline other than journalism.
Students may use their 15-hours of journalism electi ves to complete a concentration in one of the following specialty areas:
- Writing and reporting
- Editing
- Design
- Photojournalism
- Public Relations
- New and Emerging Media
- Broadcast News
The Department also offers a minor in journalism and a minor in public relations.
