I've signed on to P-Synch but I can't get my password
reset. Who do I call?
Before you start your P-Synch session, answer these questions, if applicable:
What is my email (or UX1) ID and password?
What is my EIU Domain userID and password?
What is my Mainframe userID and password?
What is my email (or IO) ID and password?
What is my PEN ID and password?
What can P-Synch do for me? P-Synch will accomplish two tasks for the user:
- Allow synchronization of passwords across platforms including:
UX1, PEN or IO email - Source Target ID
Mainframe - Source Target ID
Student OE Mainframe - Source Target ID
EIU Domain - Alternate ID
Other servers/domains (as requested through Brian Murphy, 581-7618)
But not:
FRS, BRS, ADS, or ePRINT
- Allow the user to reset his own password via a set of questions determined
by the user, unless:
Mainframe account is revoked by more than three incorrect attempts
to sign on;
Mainframe account is revoked due to inactivity during the past thirty
days;
P-Synch account is "locked-out", usually due to more than
three incorrect attempts to sign on.
How do I access P-Synch?
Open your web browser and sign on to the P-Synch website at:
https://www.ezreset.eiu.edu
You will see several flags - click on the American Flag.
Why can't I sign-on to P-Synch?
If this is your first time to sign on, then use the arrow to scroll down
to EIUIS OS/390 Administrative Mainframe System or faculty/staff email.
Type in your userID. Type in the Mainframe userID.
If you get an error message stating: You are locked out of P-Synch!
Please call the Help Desk at 581-HELP.
How do I set up my 3 personal questions so I can
reset my own password?
Sign on to P-Synch using a valid Mainframe userID or faculty/staff email
ID and a valid password. P-Synch will allow you to set up personal questions
under the Identifying Information section. Make the questions and answers
easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else
to guess. Grandmother's middle name, first car you drove, father's first job
and favorite childhood game are harder to guess. Don't put Today's Date as
a question. Believe it or not, the date changes on a daily basis! If your
favorite flower is a rose and your cubicle/office is plastered with them,
please do not choose "What is my favorite flower?" as a question.
The questions should be chosen in the same manner as your passwords: EASY
FOR YOU TO REMEMBER, HARD FOR OTHERS TO GUESS.
What if I sign on to the EIU domain as cfxxx and
the Mainframe as AAZZ410. How do I get my userIDs to have the same password?
Choose the Add my login accounts selection during your P-Synch
session. It will display your Target System and Login ID. At the bottom
of this display, you will see this sentence:
Please enter a new login ID. P-Synch will try to find it on
the network to add to your profile.
Type in another userID in the spot for Your User ID: and click on
Find my login IDs. P-Synch will look for your Unix ID (cfxxx)
on all the targets an add it to the group, provided it is a valid
account. You may execute this step for each userID you use.
Once you have added all necessary login IDs, please reset
your password so it will be synchronized for all login IDs. It is
also a good idea to re-boot your computer so it does not try to use
any old passwords with any currently open applications.
What is transparent synchronization?
Transparent Synchronization is in use right now. If your Switch (mainframe)
UserID matches your EIU Domain ID, when you change a password for one, the
other automatically changes as well. This works whether you have established
a P-Synch ID for yourself or not. You can always sign on to P-Synch and create
your questions, reset your passwords, etc. at a later date.
I've signed on to P-Synch but I can't get my password
reset. Who do I call? Please call the Help Desk at 581-HELP or 581-6030. If you are locked
out of P-Synch, they can reset your password and enable your account.
If you are revoked on the Mainframe, they can forward you to someone
who can unrevoke your Mainframe account. |
