How can I connect to the Internet from my computer?

Although Eastern Illinois University provides a 24-hour computer lab, you may want to connect to the Internet through your own personal computer. Here are the dial-up instructions for:

If you choose not to use the EIU dial-up service, here is a list of of local Internet Service Providers (ISPS) that offer access to the Internet. Please note that the university does not endorse or recommend any particular company.

What residence halls are wired for the Internet?

All the residence halls, university apartments and Greek Court houses are currently wired for ethernet access to the internet. Just stop by the front desk of your hall to find out about purchasing an ethernet card.

What do I need to connect to the ethernet from my residence hall?

Can I connect to the Internet if I live off-campus?

YES. If you live off-campus, you can connect to the EIU network through a dial-up connection. Please see the instructions from How can I connect to the Internet from my computer?
