Never send uninvited e-mail to large numbers of strangers. (Such e-mail
is known as "spam"). In particular, do not send commercial advertisements,
surveys, chain mail or questionnaires to anyone who has not given you
their permission to do so. Junk e-mail wastes both system resources
and the time of those who receive it, and recipients may contact your
system administrator with complaints. Below are instructions for blocking
unsolicited e-mails on your machine. Outlook To add a sender to Outlook's Junk Senders list:
- In Inbox, click any message from a specific sender you don't want
to continue to see.
- Select the Actions menu.
- Point to Junk e-mail
- Click Add to Junk Senders list.
All messages from this sender will now be sent to the Junk Senders list.
You can delete them from there or set up your Outlook to automatically
delete this folder in the future. Eudora To set up a filter to automatically file messages or delete them immediately:
- In the in-box, click any message you don't want to continue to receive.
- From the Special menu, choose Make Filter.
- If you want things to happen automatically when you send and receive
messages, uncheck the manual box.
- Select the From, Any Recipient or Subject and
make any changes to the selection needed.
- To make sure that you have the filter working, you might want to transfer
the messages to a new mailbox. After you are sure the filter is working
correctly, you can ask Eudora to delete the messages if needed.
All messages from the specified sender or with the specified subject
will be filed or deleted. Note: For the Subject filter, the subject line of a future message
would need to contain what you have defined, but it would not
need to exactly equal it. Outlook Express You can only block messages from a particular sender or domain in Outlook
Express. You cannot filter by subject content. To set this up:
- Selext a message you want to block from your in-box .
- From the Message menu, choose Block Sender.
Notes:
* Blocking a sender will only work if you are using POP. It will not be
effective for HTTP mail or IMAP messages.
* To remove a name from the Blocked Senders list, from the Tools
menu, select Message Rules, and then click Blocked Senders list.
