Outlook Express is the e-mail software that comes with newer versions
of Internet Explorer. It allows you to store and manage e-mail
on your computer. Outlook Express is capable of managing more than one
e-mail account, including Hotmail in more recent versions. One concern
with Outlook Express is that many e-mail viruses/worms target vulnerabilities
in this software.
What do I need to get started?
- Your e-mail account, i.e., cuxyz or cgxyz
- Your password
- A personal computer
- A working connection to the internet via EIU network or via modem
and phone line
How do I install Outlook Express? If you do not have Outlook Express on your machine and you wish to
use it, then you will need to download it.
- Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp?
- Click on the most recent version of Internet Explorer.
- On the right you will see a dropdown box to select your language
and a "Go" button. Click the "Go" button.
- Following the instructions click the download at the right.
- Read and answer the questions through the install process.
How do I start the email wizard? After starting Outlook Express, it will pop up a setup wizard the first
time you run it. After that you can start the same wizard by:
- clicking on Tools from the tool bar.
- Then select Accounts.
- Click Add then Mail from the window that comes up.
