This page will supply instructions for setting up a forward on your EIU
e-mail account to another e-mail account such as a hotmail or yahoo account. Log in to the EIU server using telnet. Instructions for telnetting
can be found at the Student Account Quick
Guide
Windows Users:Click the Start button and choose
Run. Type telnet pen.eiu.edu and then press OK.
Mac Users: Click on the Apple and choose NCSA
Telnet. Click on File, then on Open Connection.
Type pen.eiu.edu in the Host/Session Name field.
You should now have a login: prompt. Enter your login name (e.g.,
cuabc or cgabc) and press <enter>. This action should bring
up a Password: prompt. Enter your password and press <enter>.
You should see a message similar to the following:

At the pen% prompt, type forward and hit <enter>.
The screen will refresh to display as below:  The cursor should be by Enter Selection:. If so, type an A
to Add Forward Entry.
The screen will change again, and the following screen will display:
 Type F to Add Forwarding Address.
The menu at the bottom will be replaced by a prompt to enter the
address to forward e-mail messages to:  The address you typed should show up as in the example below. Type
Q to quit this application.  To confirm that you want to update your e-mail forward setup,
type Y.  If the address you would like to forward your messages to shows up in
the list and it is valid, you should begin receiving your EIU messages
in this account right away. Type logout at the pen% prompt
to exit your telnet session.
