Before you begin: These instructions will tell you how to configure your personal computer
(operating Windows XP) for dial-up access to the Internet. They may be
applied to any Pentium-class computer operating either Windows XP Home
or Professional software. Some of the screen shots may vary from those
you see on your own computer. During setup, Windows may prompt you to restart your computer. There
is no need, however, to do so until instructed. Windows may also ask for
your Windows XP installation CD or the software drivers for your Ethernet
card during the setup process. When prompted, please provide your computer
with the requested software. These instructions assume your computer is in good working order and
complies with the recommended minimum requirements. If it is not, this
document may not produce the desired results. Minimum requirements:
- A Pentium-class computer with Windows XP
- Windows XP CD
- 128 MB of RAM
- At least 250 MB of free hard-drive space
- An installed modem (28.8k or better; 56k is recommended)
- Driver disk for the modem
- Connection to a working telephone line
