On May 17, 2005 , seven exchange students named below from the University of Vaxjo, Sweden, joined Dr. Augustine, Dr. Nilsen, and current EIU students studying in Sweden , Rowdy Fredriksen and Jaree Sirisrisakulchi, for a reception to reconnect with EIU, to learn about advances in international education at Eastern, and to discuss opportunities to advance international education opportunities between Eastern and Vaxjo.

The visit also included discussions to enhance the exchange program between Eastern and Vaxjo with Ingela Aberg, International Coordinator, Lars-Olof Rask, Dean of the School of Technology and Design, Elena Vinci Hytter, Director of Internationalization of the School of Technology and Design, Lars Andersson, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Johan Sterte Vice Chancellor. The group had an opportunity to view a slide presentation on new construction at Eastern and to learn about the proposed international courtyard affiliated with the renovation of Blair Hall.
