Academic Support Professionals Benefits Provided for full-time employees with a minimum contract length of 9 months. If employment is less than full-time, but 50% or greater, participation at a cost to the employee is optional. Coverage is effective the first day of employment. Available health plans are either State Health Plan or one of our Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO's). Coverage may be purchased for eligible dependents. Dental and vision coverage is provided, as separate plans, to all employees who are enrolled in one of the health plans. An employee on a 50% to 100% contract shall earn sick leave on a pro rata basis. There is no maximum on cumulative sick leave earned. Requests for leaves without pay for reasons other than disability, upon recommendation of a supervisor, may be granted by the employer representative after vacation leave is reduced to not more than five days. Professional Meetings and Work-related Travel An employee's expenses in connection with approved professional meetings or activities may be reimbursed in accordance with University policy. An employee shall receive a reimbursement for authorized travel required by the employee's work assignment per University policy. A full-time academic support professional may enroll for credit at the University for a maximum of two courses, or six credit hours, whichever is greater, in any academic term during which she/he is employed, with exemption from the payment of tuition and fees. Waivers are available at on the Forms page or at the Benefit Services Office, 2031 Old Main, and must be approved before registering for any course work each semester. Upon verification of eligibility, a 50% tuition waiver may be offered to each child of any State of Illinois University employee who is employed at the time of application and has at least seven cumulative years of employment.
