Eastern Illinois University wins school of the year award  

Charleston, IL -- THe Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls Conference (GLACURH) honored Eastern Illinois University with the School of the Year Award.

The School of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievements on the campus level by the university's Residence Hall Association (RHA), as well as involvement on a regional and national level. The GLACURH region is comprised of states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, and the Ontario, Canada region. The organization seeks to provide member schools with the resources for the exchange of information to improve their campus climate and develop strong leaders at their respective institutions.

Eastern's RHA chapter sent 13 delegates to represent the university at the conference.

 

Housing Staff Wins Awards at Top Conference

Charleston, IL -- Several Eastern Illinois University housing staff members received prominent awards at the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers Conference (GLACUHO).

Winners included Bill Kolacek, Complex Director of Carman Hall, who was honored with the GLASS award for his presentation on "My Super-Sized Life." This award is given to the conference presenter who, on the basis of program evaluations, is deemed to have the top program at the conference.

Tracy Cunningham, Resident Director of Taylor Hall, presented her "Tunnel of Oppression" program and was honored with a Top 10 Program award.

Jody Stone, Assistant Director of Housing, was also awarded the Outstanding Service Award. This award is presented to one individual within the GLACUHO area who has provided significant contributions at the nominee's institution and has provided outstanding service on the GLACUHO Board of Directors.

Amy Price, Area Director, and Doug Howell, Resident Director of Thomas Hall, were also elected to the GLACUHO Board of Directors for the upcoming term.

This conference includes the states of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. The organization seeks to advance and communicate professional knowledge and standards in the field of student housing.
