While all residential learning communities at EIU emphasize academic excellence and respect for others, Quiet Lifestyle communities have extended study hours. During study hours conversations or music should not be heard from the hallways or from neighboring rooms. Study hours in a Quiet Lifestyle Community are in effect throughout the day except for 4pm to 7pm Sunday through Thursday and 4pm to 10pm Friday and Saturday.
Quiet Lifestyle Communities are in the following locations:
Taylor (men) 1 North
Taylor (women) 2 North
Andrews (women) 9th Floor
Thomas (men) 4 South
At the beginning of the semester, the Resident Assistant will explain these policies and interpret for the residents the expected atmosphere on the floor. More than one incident in which other residents are disturbed may result in the transfer to a non-quiet lifestyle floor by the administrative action of the Residence Hall Staff.
