Opportunities to Mentor

Besides helping your residents grow and develop, EIU offers other unique opportunities for you to mentor students and staff.

College Student Affairs Program

EIU has an amazing College Student Affairs Program that is nationally known for producing outstanding student affairs practitioners to enter the field.

There are over 20 graduate students within residential life that are currently working on a CSA degree or working on entering the student affairs field

Student Affairs Prepatory Program (SAPP)

In addition, EIU has a Student Affairs Prepatory Program (SAPP) that is coordinated by our department that has around 20 current undergraduate students attending workshops, meetings, and conferences to begin their career in student affairs.  The Residential Life Staff at EIU mentors and assists these students as they prepare to enter the field.

Student Leadership Development

Student Leadership Development at EIU is valued!  Residential Life staff members at EIU must possess a passion for advising hall government, RHA, and NRHH.  All Residential Life staff members are expected to help our student leaders sharpen their leadership skills and to guide our students and programs to achieve local, regional and national notoriety!
