REASONS TO LIVE ON CAMPUS

Live Closer

Live Closer. Living in the residence halls or apartment complexes means that you will be less than a 5-minute walk away from classes, the library, the REC, and meals. No more time wasted finding a parking spot or doing your own dishes. Think of all the time you’ll save! With on-campus housing and dining, you get to focus on your studies, your friends, and your success.

Live Smarter Live Smarter. It’s a fact that living on campus for two years increases your odds of graduating (and doing so in four years – saving you time and money!) Students who live on have better grades than those who live off. It doesn’t matter if they are a freshman or a senior. The better your grades, the better your opportunities, the better your experiences, and the better prepared you are for getting a job. Living on campus does more than provide a room, it gives you a leg up for life after graduation.
Live Secure Live Secure. When you live on campus, you will be protected by doors and hallways that require key access. There is campus security 24/7 by the University Police Department, professional housing staff, Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants, and Night Assistants. Your safety is our top priority, and we have staff who are trained to assist in any situation. Our staff on campus always goes above and beyond to help you.
Live Supported Live SupportedYour support system is a short walk across campus, down the hall, and around the corner. When you live in the halls, you will have easy access to your friends, campus resources, staff, and faculty. We often hear from students that living on campus was the reason they enjoyed their experience at EIU more.
Live Easy Live Easy. All on-campus housing is either connected to or a short walk away from a dining center. Grab a meal and dine in or take it to go. Our daily menu is even available on your phone. Let us do the cooking and cleaning.
Live Better Live Better. Students who live on campus are often involved in organizations and activities that support their social and personal growth.  When you live in diverse residential communities like ours, you learn valuable life skills like communication, decision making, cultural competence, critical thinking, and more. You don’t even have to leave the building for a chance to develop your resume. These experiences help better prepare you for life after graduation and success in your chosen career field.

Don't just take our word for it, take a look at the data from the most recent Resident Satisfaction Survey!
