Welcome to Lawson Hall! Lawson happens to be one of the liveliest residential facilities on Eastern Illinois Universities campus. Lawson was built in 1966 and has a capacity of 500. The hall is predominantly a freshman building with a low percentage of upperclassman, the residents have built a communal atmosphere that very warm and welcoming.
Additionally, housed within Lawson Hall is the Investigators Office for the University Police Department, Art and Music Department, and the office of Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service. Lawson Hall has a variety of ways to get involved, one way is Lawson Inc. Lawson has one Resident Director, one Associate Resident Director, six Resident Assistants, ten desk clerks, and one secretary. Hall and Room Specifics: Lawson Hall has eight floors. Each floor has 30 rooms in which students can reside. Two of these rooms are physical singles that can only occupy one person. The other rooms are double. The student must provide their own telephone, linen, and any other accessories. Laundry Facilities: Each floor has its own laundry facilities. Each facility has two washers and dryers. Common Areas: The common areas for residents and visitors of Lawson Hall are the lobby and the basement area. The lobby area is utilized for studying, congregating, programs, and weekly hall council meetings. Located in the basement of Lawson Hall are vending machines, piano room, study tables, pool table, ping pong table, kitchenette, study room, couches, and a big screen television.
Hall Special Interest Options
All floors are nonsmoking floors, lounges and kitchenettes. Each floor has a lounge that can be utilized by the residents of the floor for studying and the Resident Assistant for programs and meetings. Each floor within the laundry facility has a kitchenette which is available for the residents to utilize. Dining Center: Lawson has a dining center that is connected with Taylor Hall. All students who live in the residence hall may utilize this dining center. Taylor/Lawson dining serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday - Friday; Brunch and Dinner on Saturday; and Brunch on Sunday. The menu of Taylor/Lawson consists of a hot breakfast; Mexican entree, chicken, and fries for lunch; and a varied entree is served for dinner. Dinner is also served on Sunday's. Visitation Status: In Lawson Hall there is 24-hour visitation.
