Freshman gathered in Buzzard Hall Friday afternoon for the annual freshman orientation. Honors staff was on hand to answer questions and share past experiences here at EIU.

Jamie, Dean Irwin, and Chris prepare to greet new
honors freshman as they arrive for orientation.
Dean Irwin gave a welcome speech and brief
presentation before splitting the group into
discussion groups led by upperclass honors students.
Matt and Chris helped lead discussion groups and
answered questions students had about academics,
resident halls, and campus life.
There was an excellent assortment of food to enjoy,
and we thank Margaret and Chris for
helping set it up.
Everything tasted as good as it looked!
We also had cake in honor of Dean Irwin's birthday!
Upperclass honors students volunteered their
time to help make orientation successful for
the freshmen following in their footsteps.
Freshman placed dot stickers on a large map of
Illinois to mark their hometowns. This map
hangs in Booth House and demonstrates how
far the Honors Program reaches!
The morning ended with trivia and prizes,
including this wonderful AHS t-shirt!
