President – Lisa Cerny
My name is Lisa Cerny and I am returning as AHS president for this year. I am a senior history education major. We provide both social and philanthropic events. Our philanthropy events provide members with an opportunity to serve the community while visiting with friends. This year, I am planning a day trip to Indianapolis for the group in February!
Vice-President – Keri Carroll
Keri Carroll, a sophomore English major, is serving as vice-president this year. Keri is in charge of planning the Progressive Dinner. For the dinner, honors students carpool to professor's houses to have a meal. Keri also invites deans and heads of departments to join AHS for meetings and events. New this year, Keri is organizing a forum to educate students about the University's departmental honors program.
Treasurer – Stefan Aydt
I am Stefan Aydt, a junior math education major and this year's AHS treasurer. Dues for membership in AHS this year will be $10. Also, all members are strongly encouraged to purchase an AHS t-shirt for $12 because the money raised from dues and t-shirts provides most of the budget for our activities during the year.
Secretary – Korey Adkins
Welcome to the honors program! I am Korey Adkins, a communication and biology major, as well as the secretary for AHS. AHS annually awards the Dean Herbert Laskey scholarship to a member receiving a designated number of points in the organization. Points are awarded based on attendance at meetings, social events, and philanthropy events.
Social Chair – Rachael Jannusch
Hi! I am Rachael Jannusch, a sophomore dietetics major. As social chair, I am planning some pretty awesome events for the upcoming year. Besides planning activities at meetings, I am working on planning monthly outings for the organization, such as hiking at Turkey Run, roller-skating, movie nights, days at the student rec center, and a board game night. I also plan an annual Halloween Dance with admission being a canned food donation for the local food pantry.
Philanthropy Chairs – Katie Kruger and Jessica Klaus
Katie Kruger, sophomore math education major, and Jessica Klaus, sophomore political science major, are serving as co-philanthropy chairs. This year there will be many opportunities for everyone to make a difference in the community. Along with regular trips to a nursing home in Charleston and tutoring at the local Teen Reach, we will participate in various community service projects throughout the year. We organize our annual Trick-or-Souping fundraiser for Charleston 's food pantry, a team for Eastern's Relay for Life, and we're planning on collaborating with Eastern's chapter of Habitat for Humanity chapter for a day of building.
