The Eastern Illinois University Honors College was founded as the Honors Programs in 1982 to meet the needs of academically talented students. Here a place is provided to encourage intellectual and social growth. Students interested in small classes, caring faculty and administrators as well as carefully thought out courses of study should think about joining the programs.
Interested in participating in Honors? Complete an Honors Application at the link below. Freshmen scholarship applications are due February 1 of each year and includes other requested information (high school transcript, essay, list of senior year courses, awards and recognition, extracurricular and volunteer experience, recommendation letter). Mail applications to the Honors College, Eastern Illinois University, 600 Lincoln Avenue, Charleston, IL 61920.

EIU students who have achieved at least a 3.5 GPA their first semester will be invited to join the Honors College. Admission will be granted in the spring semester.

Admissions Process
1. Apply to Eastern Illinois University. Please visit Admissions website.
2. Complete the Honors College Application.
3. Send the following materials directly to the Honors College:

* List of Senior Year Courses
* List of Extracurricular and Volunteer Experience
* List of Awards and Recognition
* List of Work Experience
* Recommendation Letter
The Honors College Application will not be processed until application to Eastern Illinois University is completed or in progress.
