The three realms define the religious system of the Mississipan peoples: The Above World, The Middle World, The Beneath World. A sacred tree connected all three levels. The Above World consisted of the day sky and the night sky and is symbolized by a cross inside of a circle with petals surronding it. The Native Americans and animals inhabited the Middle World and it's symbol is the cross inside of a circle. the Beneath World was an underwater realm. It's symbol is what we know as a swastika and a circle. Each level consisted of deities that were able to travel between the realms via the Milky Way galaxy or through caves and waterways.
