At the core of EIU's Historical Administration Program are a number of activities that introduce and reinforce the theories and philosophies of presenting and preserving the past for the public. Each year students participate in fall and spring study trips to museums and historical agencies in the Midwest. These trips allow for behind-the-scenes exploration of various types of institutions, and for interaction with H.A. alumni.

Every fall, students also have an opportunity to partake in a first-person interpretation experience at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site's Fall Frolic.

Each year students design, fabricate, and install an history exhibit in a local venue. In recent years, H.A. exhibits have appeared at the Early American Museum in Mahomet, the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site Visitor Center, and the Tarble Arts Center on EIU's campus. Program Partners.

The Historical Administration Program is demanding, but each year's class manages to find time for rest and relaxation. Forging bonds with one's own class is only part of the story, as H.A. alumni provide a network of connections throughout the museum profession.
