Welcome to EIU's History Department! With over 250 majors and more than twenty-five faculty with PhD's from top universities, we are able to provide both variety in our curriculum and close student-teacher interaction. Our faculty are all active scholars who are dedicated to teaching students both the subject matters and the research and presentation methodologies of history. Whether you hope to teach, move into the world of business upon graduation, or continue on to graduate or professional school in history, library science, law or historical administration, your History degree from EIU will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be successful. I invite you to explore our website for information about student scholarships and awards, curriculum and advising, extra-curricular activities, faculty achievements and more. Should you wish to come to campus to meet us in person and learn more about our programs, please contact me directly for an appointment. I can also arrange for you to meet with an advisor in the department or sit in on a class or two, if you would like. Come to EIU's History department expecting the best...you will find it!
