Nutritional Education: Healthy Eating: A Lifestyle Not a FAD

Saturday, November 21st 2009
This Week's Theme:
Color of the rainbow… Getting a wide variety of different foods is important to maintaining a balanced diet. A good way to incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, and different nutrients is by incorporating a plethora of colors into your everyday meals. Your foods will not only look good, but it will also provide you with the essential vitamins and minerals you need to live a healthful life.

Today's Tip
One of the most important blues is not a food at all, but a liquid! Water is a great component to losing weight. It’s recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, which help with all functions of the body. Well hydrated bodys enable us to function quicker and ore efficiently. Drinking water also makes us feel more energetic and boosts our metabolic rate. Studies have also shown that thirst and hunger sensations are triggered together, which means that we often grab a snack when we’re really hungry, causing us to consume unnecessary excess calories. Get more water throughout the day by carrying around a water bottle.
WATER RICH foods… Tomatoes, grapes, watermelon, hot cereal
