The Health Education Resource Center’s (HERC) EIU Moves; Walking your way to a Healthy Life Competition! 

EIU moves is the new walking program offered through the HERC for the spring semester. This program is an Eastern Illinois University Walking Program that will take place January 14th – March 3rd (7 week program) on the campus of EIU. This program is being introduced to increase physical activity within the campus of EIU.

Students

Sign up in teams of six members and walk your way to Daytona Beach, Florida! Participants will be given a pedometer in which they will record a weeks worth of walking. The teams who meet each weekly goal, with all team members making their goals, will be entered to win a $50 discount on air travel to your Spring Break destination in Florida for all 6 team members.  The attached sheets may be used and filled out for registration.  Please note, there are limited spots available so you must COME TO THE HERC to reserve your team space!  

Faculty/Staff

Faculty and Staff will be asked to purchase their own pedometers and keep track of their steps and miles walked per week for their own personal goals. Along with students, the faculty and staff can walk their way to spring break! A total of 1,019 miles from Charleston, IL to Daytona Beach, FL will be walked. Faculty and staff will be asked to simply contact the HERC by phone (581-7786) or e-mail me at dswilcox@eiu.edu to sign up. The attached sheets should be used and filled out for their personal use but are not mandatory to participate.
