College Health Opportunity

Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL is seeking a BC/BE primary care physician to provide ambulatory care for college students. Will need to be or eligible for Illinois license and be willing to supervise NP/PA/. Areas of practice include acute and chronic care, mental health, sports medicine , sexually transmitted diseases and patient education and prevention. Student health center provides full range of primary care services, with on-site laboratory, X-ray, pharmacy and health education

Eastern Illinois University's 2010 Fiscal Year total student enrollment was 11,966.  Of that, 1,741 were graduate students.

Position Summary

Provide primary medical care and patient education to EIU students, including student athletes.  Other duties could include caring for EIU employees and other campus visitors as requested.  Coordinate medical care with regional specialists.  Participate in other duties necessary in the smooth functioning of the Health Service.

About the Health Service

The Health Service originated at Eastern Illinois University in the early 1920's.  Since then, the Health Service has gone through much change and expansion.  Currently, the Health Service boasts a modern medical clinic with many services available on-site including a laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy.  The clinic currently employs an array of medical and administrative professionals to serve the needs of the EIU student population. 

The Health Service is a part of the Division of Student Affairs.  The division is overseen by the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Dan Nadler.  The Health Service is overseen by Lynette Drake (Health Service Director) and Dr. Sheila Baker (Health Service Medical Director).

The average number of patients seen per day by each provider is 20-25.
