Homecoming "Royal Blue" Coronation – The crowning of the EIU Homecoming Week Royalty starts Homecoming, which consists of crowning the Homecoming King, Queen, Prince, and Princess in a coronation ceremony. The Homecoming Court consists of the King, Queen, 1st King Runner-up, 1st Queen Runner-up, Prince, and Princess, who reign over Homecoming Week.
Homecoming Elections – The elections process consists of campus-wide voting by EIU students, faculty, and staff for the respective Homecoming candidate(s) of their choice.
Homecoming Window Painting (Residence Hall Division) – The window painting consists of Residence Halls designing and displaying painted murals, which reflect various homecoming sub-themes. The window painting murals will be displayed throughout Homecoming Week in the MLK Jr Union Walkway Lounge and the Residence Halls main lobby windows.
Homecoming “Spirit Kits” – In an effort to promote school spirit and involvement in Homecoming Week participants will have the opportunity to purchase “Spirit Kits” at a discount price that will include:
Homecoming House Decs (Greek Division) – The House Decs consists of Greek-lettered Organizations designing and displaying decorative lawn signs measuring 4’ x 8’, which are based on various homecoming sub-themes. The House Decs are displayed in front of Greek Chapter Houses throughout Homecoming Week.
Homecoming Spirit Boards (All Divisions) – The Spirit Boards consist of all divisions designing and displaying decorative sandwich boards measuring 24” x 48”, which promote EIU school spirit. The Spirit Boards will be displayed prior to and during EIU Homecoming Week throughout campus and on game day at O’Brien Stadium.
Homecoming Spirit Banner (All Divisions) – The Spirit Banners consist of all divisions designing and displaying promotional banners that promote school spirit at designate events during EIU Homecoming Week.
Homecoming “Hoops For HOPE” Charity Basketball Game – The EIU Charity Basketball Game will feature EIU students, faculty, staff and Charleston Community leaders in a fun and entertaining game of basketball to raise money for Hoops for HOPE of East Central Illinois against Domestic Violence .
Homecoming “Family Fun Night - Bluau!” – The “Family Fun Night” is an entertaining evening for EIU students, faculty, staff, and their families. Activities include BINGO, arcade games, inflatable games, refreshments, and prizes for all ages.
Homecoming “Yell Like Hell” – The “Yell Like Hell” event is a display of school spirit consisting of a series of school chants and synchronized routines that incorporate dance, cheer, tumbling, and stunts to music. Participants will choreograph a cheer routine associated with the 2009 Homecoming theme.
Homecoming “Who Wants To Be a Mascot” – The “Who Wants to be a Mascot” competition is a display of school spirit as portrayed by EIU student mascots competing to be a school mascot. The winning Mascot will have the chance to perform at various events throughout Homecoming Week.
Homecoming Spirit T-shirts – The Spirit T-shirts will be on sale prior to and throughout Homecoming Week to promote school spirit. T-shirts can be purchased by members of the EIU community for $5.00 each. EIU students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to purchase t-shirts while they last!
Homecoming “Paint the Town Blue” – The Paint the Town Blue is a series of community-activities designed to promote EIU Homecoming spirit and pride throughout the Charleston community. Charleston businesses are invited to participate in a wide range of promotional activities which include – window painting, marquee display, etc. that show community support through out EIU Homecoming Week.
Homecoming Pep Rally – The Pep Rally consists of a general assembly designed to promote and display school spirit during Homecoming Week. A wide range of cheers/chants, dances, skits and giveaways highlight the night.
Homecoming Pancake Breakfast – The Pancake Breakfast consists of an “all-you-can-eat” sunrise breakfast for the EIU and Charleston’s communities, prior to the start of the Homecoming Race/Walk and Parade events. Sponsored by the Charleston Rotary Club, proceeds benefit a local charity.
Homecoming 2.5K Race/Walk – The 2.5K Race/Walk consists of participants from all ages from the EIU and Charleston communities competing for prizes and awards, as they race around the designated parade route to the finish line. Sponsored by the EIU Recreation Department, prizes and awards are given out to the top place-finishers in each division.
Homecoming Parade – The annual EIU Homecoming Parade will consist of over 100 campus/community entries featuring a Parade Grand Marshall, distinguished EIU Alumni, decorated cars, bands, and floats.
Homecoming Tailgate "Billy's Backyard"– The “Billy’s Backyard” Tailgate consists of pre-game festivities for family, friends and alumni from the EIU and Charleston communities. This pre-game event is held behind O’Brien Football Stadium in the tailgate area and consists of a Kid’s Corner, free food, inflatable games, live music, and giveaways.
Homecoming “PAWS for a Cause” Recycling – The “PAWS For A Cause” event invites members of the EIU community to participate by dropping-off re-useable paper, plastics and aluminum re-cycling project to raise awareness with regards to the importance of campus recycling.
A T-shirt swap will also take place.
Homecoming Bleed Blue Blood Drive - I Bleed Blue Blood Drive-The EIU Community is invited to help donate blood to the American Red Cross in order to reach EIU’s blood giving goal-
67 units.
Homecoming "Nothing But Nets" - Individual teams of three can compete against one another in this sports challenge. Proceeds go to the "Nothing But Nets" charity, which donates mosquito nets to those in need in order to prevent the spread of malaria. Click here for the application and directions!

EIU SCHOLARSHIP SCRAMBLE - October 16 (Charleston Country Club) - The 2009 EIU Panther Club golf outings conclude on Friday, October 16 with the EIU Scholarship Scramble at Charleston Country Club. Start off your homecoming weekend right with a round of golf with registration and lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is provided by Arby's. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. with the outing sponsored by Ronchetti
