Lambda Alpha Delta

Lambda Alpha Delta is an organization for students who have recently joined their respective fraternity or sorority and wish to gain a greater perspective of the entire Greek community. The council meets on a weekly basis with delegates from each fraternity and sorority chapter on campus and hosts many projects and events. The council consists of an executive board, council liaison positions to other university and Greek organizations, as well as delegates who represent their specific fraternity/sorority chapter.

Goals:

  • To promote superior scholastic achievement
  • To develop leadership skills to launch into further Greek community and campus community leadership positions
  • To promote positive social events for students who are new to Greek life
  • To develop service and philanthropic events carried out by members of the Junior Greek Council
  • To develop new friendships amongst the different members of the fraternities and sororities on campus
  • And to have fun!

Executive offices:

President
The president oversees the weekly meetings and serves as non-voting member of the council except in case of a tie. The president delegates responsibilities to others, represents the council at university and community events and keeps in close touch with other officers, other members and advisors.

Vice President Scholarship
The responsibility of the Vice President of Scholarship is to coordinate programs and activities to improve academic standings, coordinate the presentation of the Junior Greek Council Scholarship plaque, provide council members with scholarship opportunities and academic improvement tips, and work with Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils on the Faculty Appreciation program. The Vice President of Scholarship also serves in absences of the Junior Greek Council President.

Vice President Social Programming
The VP of Social Programming coordinates social activities amongst new member classes, assists the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils on the Greek Educational Series programs, and serves as the Parliamentarian for the council and educates council members on issues of parliamentary procedures.

Vice President Fundraising
The VP of Fundraising sets up activities to raise funds for the Junior Greek Council, works closely with Greek Life Secretary on the Final Exam Snacks Program and coordinates the council's efforts to prepare the exam snacks packages.

Vice President Community Service
The VP of Community Service is responsible for setting up community service and philanthropic events for the Junior Greek Council and new member classes.

Vice President Administrative Affairs
The VP of Administrative Affairs prepares minutes and distributes them to the council and interested parties, prepares and distributes phone list of council members, attends to official correspondence for members of the University and Charleston communities, notifies the chapters and delegates of any meetings or events, records attendance, maintains balance of council finances, handles check requests, takes photos and prepares the scrapbook of the Junior Greek Council.

IFC Liaison
The IFC Liaison attends the Interfraternity Council meetings and gives detailed reports at the following Junior Greek Council meeting of all activities, programs and transactions occurring at the meeting. The IFC meets every Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

PHC Liaison
The PHC Liaison attends the Panhellenic Council meetings and gives detailed reports at the following Junior Greek Council meeting of all activities, programs and transactions occurring at the meeting. PHC meets every Wednesday at 5:00 pm.

NPHC Liaison
The NPHC Liaison attends the National Pan-Hellenic Council meetings and gives detailed reports at the following Junior Greek Council meeting of all activities, programs and transactions occurring at the meeting. NPHC meets every Monday at 7:00 pm.
