Honorary Organizations

The Greek community at EIU offers three honorary organizations, based soley on academic and leadership qualities. All of them have a national organization. They also participate in community service events throughout the year. The organizations are listed below.

Lambda Alpha Delta
Lambda Alpha Delta is an organization for students who have recently joined their respective fraternity or sorority and wish to gain a greater perspective of the entire Greek community. The council meets on a weekly basis with delegates from each fraternity and sorority chapter on campus and hosts many projects and events. The council consists of an executive board, council liaison positions to other university and Greek organizations, as well as delegates who represent their specific fraternity/sorority chapter.

Rho Lambda
Rho Lambda is a honorary organization for sorority members. It is an organization that accepts members based on academic performance, leadership, and community service. Each semester members of the Greek community apply to be initiated into Rho Lambda. The active members of Rho Lambda then select the new initiates from the applications they received. Rho Lambda is a nationally recognized Greek honorary organization.

Order of Omega
Order of Omega is a Greek honorary organization that believes in high scholarship, leadership skills, and community inolvement. These attributes make an individual perfectly suited for initiation into Order of Omega. This honorary organization is a nationally recognized organization.

Gamma Sigma Alpha
The Epsilon Mu chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha at Eastern Illinois University prides itself on high academic ideals. All initiates must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA in order to be eligible for the honorary. Gamma Sigma Alpha is a nationally recognized organization.
