Dr. Melinda Mueller, professor of political science, currently serves as the graduate program coordinator of graduate study. The graduate program offers a Master of Arts in Political Science with concentrations in American government and politics, comparative politics/international relations and public administration/public policy and a graduate certificate in Public Planning.

Dr. Mueller’s research interests include gender and politics, focusing on questions of descriptive representation and substantive policy representation. Publications include a book chapter on "the soccer mom" and voting, in Engaging the Public: How the Government and Media Can Reinvigorate American Democracy, an article on how female House candidates discussed the issue of war in the 2006 election, in the Thomas Jefferson Law Review, and an article about teaching at a comprehensive university, published in PS: Political Science & Politics. She also conducts research on civic engagement in higher education.  Admission to the graduate program in political science requires an application to the Graduate School as well as an additional application to the Department of Political Science.
