The graduate program offers the master of arts degree in English with areas of concentration in literary studies, literary studies with creative writing emphasis as well as composition/rhetoric and professional writing. Dr. Hanlon’s interests shift between critical theory and nineteenth-century American literature and intellectual history. He received his doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2001. Admission to the graduate program in English requires an application to the Graduate School (on-line at http://www.applyweb.com/apply/eiu/menu.html) as well as an additional application to the Department of English.
