Assistantships

Attention: The Graduate Assistant Orientation is available via WebCT. If you are working as an assistant during the Academic Year 2009-2010 or Fall 2009, you should log on to Web CT using your EIU net id and password and complete the orientation before August 20, 2009.
Please deliver your employment and payroll forms to 1103 Blair Hall:

If your last name begins A-L: Thursday August 20 from 9:00-noon

If your last name begins M-Z: Thursday August 20 from 1:00-3:00

If you cannot make that date: Friday August 21 from 1:00 - 3:00
Assistants working in Housing and Dining have already completed the necessary employment and payroll forms, those students only need to complete the first step in the orientation: reading the handbook and taking the quiz.

Assistantships are offered in every graduate program as well as non-academic units such as Housing and Dining and the Center for Academic Technology Support. Graduate assistantships provide a monthly stipend in exchange for duties performed in research, teaching and service, as well as a tuition waiver scholarship. The scholarship waives tuition only, not fees. Applicants need to submit their application on-line. The deadline to consider assistantship applications for most units is mid-February. The Center for Academic Technology Support Center (CATS) offers technology development free of charge to graduate assistants. The Graduate School encourages assistants to take advantage of these workshops. information can be found here: www.eiu.edu/~cats/home/cats_workshop_registration.php
