Oceanographic Excursion to
Monterey Bay, California

Enjoy a fun-packed, educational oceanographic weekend on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula of Central California: included is a 3-hour cruise (weathering permitting) aboard a commercial ship to experience the Pacific and hopefully see whales, a beach excursion to study beach processes, a trip to the unsurpassed scenery of the Big Sur and Point Lobos, and a visit to the world famous Monterey Bay AquariumLast Fall we observed over 200 Riso’s dolphin.

Our trip starts at EIU with van/bus travel to Indianapolis International Airport where we will board a luxury jet liner to San Jose via Minneapolis.  During our stay in Monterey we will have vans available for field excursions.  Evenings will be free to visit Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, or, if you're energetic, Carmel-by-the-Sea.  Our motel is within walking distance of most evening activities.

Hurry and register--the course is limited to 14 students on a first-come, first-serve basis. Previous trips have filled in less than two weeks. The course fee is $650 and a 1 credit hour tuition will be separately charged by the University. All expenses included except meals, tips, and personal expenses. First payment of $250 and registration form is due by February 1, 2004 (100% non-refundable) in the Department Office (S-3003), 3rd Floor, Physical Science Bldg, payable by check (make check payable to Eastern Illinois University).
Final payment of $400 (non-refundable after March 15, 2004) will be billed to your student account and payments are to be made at the Cashier's Office by cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MC). All course withdraws must be done in writing!
