Our program provides students a broad education for careers in consumer affairs, dietetics, hospitality services, family services, merchandising and teacher certification.

The courses in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences provide the foundation for challenging careers.As a student you can benefit from excellent classroom instruction by our faculty as you complete your Bachelor of Science degree. You will be advised by our School of Family and Consumer Sciences Advisor.
Internships are an integral part of our programs of study. These internships or student teaching experiences provide you the opportunity for "hands on" learning in your chosen curriculum while completing your degree requirements.

Courses include Consumer Education, Consumer Issues and Consumer Decisions in the Marketplace, and Consumer Textile Products
Possible careers include working in corporate business, government agencies, product education, labeling issues, and legislation

Courses include Nutrition Therapy, Food Services Systems Management,
Quantity Food Production and Food Science
Possible careers include working in hospitals, community or government agencies, military services, food industries, nutrition education, and research
Family Services
Courses in this area focus on education and prevention throughout the entire family life cycle from birth to death.
Courses include Infant and Child Development, Parent Child Study, Life Span Development, Family Relationships, Family in Crisis, Addictions in the Family, Disadvantaged Family, Aging and the Family, and Death and Dying.
Possible careers are with social services in child care, family life education, alcohol and addictions programs, case management, and domestic violence programs
Hospitality Management
Courses include Hospitality Services Operations, Hospitality Services Administration, Nutrition and Well-Being, and Food Sanitation
Possible careers include hotel management, resort and club operations, food and beverage management, and conference planning
Includes a business administration minor
Merchandising
Courses include Fashion Buying, Fashion Distribution Systems, Interior Design, Housing, History of Costume, and Textiles
Possible careers are in retail management, textile and apparel product development, department buying, and visual merchandising

Teacher Certification
Courses include methods of teaching family and consumer sciences subject areas and classroom teaching techniques
